f you like football and fancy doing some exercise whilst having fun at the same time, then we are the team for you!
We are the MMU and Manchester University ladies 5-a-side team and play every Tuesday, 5-6pm at the Sugden Sports Centre, off Oxford Road. We are a very relaxed bunch of people who are looking to recuit more players (bring a friend!) and enjoy the beautiful game.
PLUS, once a month we will have a FA Qualified Coach teaching us new skills and help improve our game.
Any levels of fitness or skills are welcome and each session costs 3.50 GBP
Either come along to our next session or email Victoria Stone on v.l.stone@mmu.ac.uk for more information.
I'm taking part in the 45km trek along the Great Wall of China to raise money to build schools and orphanages for children in sub-saharan Africa.
As part of this, there will be a Charity Meal held on Saturday 12th May. It is a ladies only evening at Nawaab Manchester. Meal and raffle plus stalls. £15 per adult (£20 on the door), £5 per child under 4 (babies obviously free!). All the profits will go direct to the charity. Please ring Fatima on extension x1945 for more info and please share with your friends!
Any donations will be gratefully received and can be done either by contacting me on x1945 or by visiting my Justgiving page: www.justgiving.com/Fatima-Bee
Please help me to raise the money and make a massive difference to the school children.
More details on the trek itself can be found on the following link. http://www.muslimhands.org/en/gb/events/2012/china_trek/
A few more participants are required for a research study investigating the effects of short term dietary supplementation of fructose on gastric emptying of fructose and glucose, and perceived hunger.
Participation will require a total of 5 visits to the laboratory; one familiarisation visit and 4 experimental trial visits each following a 3-day dietary maintenance period. The familiarisation visit will take approximately 15 minutes of your time and each experimental trial visit will take approximately 75 minutes of your time. During the 3-day dietary maintenance periods you will be asked to supplement your normal diet with either water or solutions containing fructose (120g/day). Experimental lab visits on the morning of the 4th day will involve the ingestion of a carbohydrate drink solution containing either glucose or fructose. Repeated breath samples will be obtained to measure the rate of gastric emptying.
If you are a healthy non-smoking male aged 18-40 with no history of chronic gastrointestinal complaints and would like more information or would like to volunteer for this exciting study to help understand more about nutrition, gastric emptying, appetite and obesity, please do not hesitate to contact Adora Yau on a.yau@mmu.ac.uk or ext. 5504.
