The University's Community Audit and Evaluation Centre (CAEC) was recently awarded funding as part of the Manchester Beacon Initiative to develop a Community Advisory Panel.
This new partnership scheme aims to raise the profile of the spectrum of existing public engagement across the Institute of Education and to create a mechanism through which ongoing dialogue and knowledge exchange with external community stakeholders and champions can influence and inform the direction of the Faculty in relation to community engagement
We are now at the stage when we would like to start making the most of the funding available for this project and would like to start to arrange some dates for our community partners to come in and provide input either with teaching, staff development, course planning, course materials, event workshops/presentations etc – it is important that we try to fix some specific sessions for Jan-March 2012 as we have the funding available to pay for their contributions (and expenses) and this presents an ideal opportunity to make the most of all the experience and expertise they have to offer.
If you would like a list of some of the Community Partners along with a brief summary of the role of their organisation and what they can offer colleagues teaching in the Institute of Education (or undertaking research in ESRI), please contact us. If you are interested in this opportunity please let me know as soon as possible – there is no application form and all admin will be undertaken by CAEC.
The Centre has produced a newsletter for December 2011 which is available in pdf form on the website www.mmu.ac.uk/caec
