The Careers & Employability Service offers a fantastic programme of career development workshops and employer presentations to help our students maximise their chances of career success. The workshop sessions are crammed with information and practical tips, whilst our employer presentations offer students the chance to network, find out about opportunities and what organisations look for in potential candidates.
Encourage your students to take part in the range of career development workshops and employer presentations taking place on campus next week:

MMU Careers & Employability Service
The Disabled Staff Forum (DSF) in conjunction with the Equality and Diversity (E&D) team are running an afternoon celebration to highlight the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (3rd Dec).
The event will also be an opportunity for disabled staff and staff with an interest in supporting disabilities to come together and review the results of the recent staff survey, which were discussed at the last Diversity and Equal Opportunities Committee (DEOC), chaired by VC. The Committee agreed that there should be an informal meeting to discuss the issues disabled staff at MMU are facing and what can be done to address these.
The event will be held in the Pennine, 5th floor, All Saints on Friday 2nd December at 2.30 pm until 4 pm, with afternoon tea and cakes available. To book your place please contact the E&D Co-ordinator Vicci Jarman on v.jarman@mmu.ac.uk or ext 6415. If you can’t attend the whole event but would like to drop in please still let us know so we can book you a place.
If you cannot attend but would like to pass on your thoughts or comments to be discussed then please pass these onto the E&D Co-ordinator Vicci Jarman or one of the Co-Chairs Anna Charles-Jones a.charles-jones@mmu.ac.uk or Lucy Burke l.burke@mmu.ac.uk.
For more information on the staff survey results that the discussions will be around please contact Vicci Jarman and to see the whole report go to http://www.mmu.ac.uk/staff/survey/index2.php#results on the MMU website.
As part of the Windows 7 rollout, we are moving to a more efficient central file store. This will provide staff with consistent and reliable access to their files from anywhere in the university.
This diagram [http://www.mmu.ac.uk/itservices/images/R-drive-structure_MML.png] shows the structure of the new “Staff2Staff” R: drive, which will be the main file store for documents created by staff for sharing with colleagues. The levels shown are the top two which will be controlled centrally by IT Services. Levels below these will be decided by the local departments, supported by IT Services.
This process has already been successfully completed for IT Services staff and the MMU student population, and with careful preparation, we envisage a problem-free transition for staff. If you have any questions, please contact us by email: windows7@mmu.ac.uk. You can also learn more about the Staff2Staff R: drive at one of our Technology Roadshows.
