Ian Roberts said he was delighted with the university’s sole nomination in the THE Leadership and Management Awards.
He said: “As the most applied to university in 2011, processing over 78,000 applications in a rapidly changing HE environment was a huge challenge.
“Working together under huge pressure, recruitment staff supported admissions work helping to process significant numbers of applications, whilst admissions staff supported recruitment activities at key times.”
The team has also supported WP with new literature - Parents Guide, Finance Guide and Applying Guide - which help tackle perceived barriers to HE, raise aspirations and support improved progression to university.
Added Ian: “Our outreach team delivered a sector-leading advice and guidance campaign on student finance to offset market uncertainty around increases in tuition fees. We also maximised access to clear information, ensuring resources are accessible online and via social media platforms.
“An exciting development during 2011 was the launch of our online FAQs containing extensive information on our top 200 queries relevant to prospective students.”
In his Start of Term Address in 2011, Vice Chancellor, Professor John Brooks said: “This is without doubt out the most successful and highest quality recruitment intake as a university and my congratulations go to the admissions staff, Deans and to our Recruitment and Admissions team under Ian Roberts for a sterling job.”
The winner will be announced at a gala ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London on June 21.
