Mind Body and Spirit Summer Festival

Posted: Friday, 27th April 2012

MIND Body & Spirit Week offers all staff the chance to take some time out to learn something new, consider their health and well being and be more aware of diversity and equal opportunity issues.

Run for the past six years, it gets bigger and more varied each year thanks to staff and local businesses who volunteer their time and expertise to offer a wide range of events and activities.

Last year over 500 staff from all sites booked onto everything from archery, yoga and Indian head massage, to knitting, bike maintenance and jewellery-making and there were also sporting activities and live music.

This year’s event will run from Monday 23rd July – Friday 27th July and will be a Mind Body & Spirit Week summer festival.

Volunteers sought

Alison Laithwaite, from HR, who manages the Week, said: “We are hoping to get as many events on as many different campus sites as possible but it is dependent on individuals volunteering to give up some of their time and share their skills knowledge and expertise.

“This event has the full support of the Vice Chancellor and staff are encouraged to take part during the week of events and get involved in some of the sessions however it is vital that staff also get involved in providing sessions for individuals to attend.”

Anyone who feels they may be able to offer a session to go in the programme but are unsure about if it will fit, should call Alison x6410. You may also have family or friends that would like the opportunity to get involved and promote their business by offering taster sessions to staff as has happened in previous years.
